Be guided through the events which shaped South Africa’s history

Battlefield Tours

We can arrange for you to stay close to both the Boer War and Zulu War battlefields and to be guided through the events which shaped South Africa’s history.

There are several lodges to stay at when exploring the Zulu Battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, but top of the pops is Fugitive’s Drift – both the main lodge and the guest house are extremely comfortable with plenty of battlefield memorabilia. Nicky Rattray has carried on at the helm after David Rattray’s untimely death in 2007 and the guiding is as inspiring and knowledgeable as ever it was. Although it is often the men in a family who request to visit here, it is the ladies that are moved most by the vivid story-telling and the experience.

Further South West in the Drakensburg Mountains you will be similarly inspired about the Boer War Battles by the guides at Three Tree Hill Lodge. This is a charming and comfortable place to stay.

The roads are good between both lodges so they can easily be combined on a self drive holiday.
